Minimal Invasive Surgery
Minimally invasive surgery is done through small incisions.
Advances in recent years all over the world have brought us these new minimally invasive surgical techniques where patients are experiencing:
- Less trauma
- Less pain
- Minimal scarring due to small incisions
- Faster recovery
- Less time in the hospital
For patients, minimally invasive means reduced trauma to the body, less blood loss, small surgical scars, and less need for pain medication. Patients leave the hospital sooner after minimally invasive surgery and return to normal activities sooner than with conventional open surgery. Slowly, but surely, conventional surgery is being replaced by minimally invasive surgery.
The use of minimally invasive methods however, is not possible to all patients and for all types of surgeries and patient selection is guided by multiple factors and decided by the surgeon.
